Friction

Commercial success had multiplied volumes without ever elevating the experience that surrounded them. Digital campaigns generated thousands of contacts; dealerships overflowed with leads; and yet conversion on the summit models stagnated year after year. Worse, when a client capable of placing €200,000 on the table finally walked through the door, they lived through exactly the same transactional journey as a buyer of a diesel compact. Against Porsche or Ferrari, AMG wasn’t losing its most demanding clients on product — it was losing them on the poverty of the moment in which the product was sold.

02

Focus

The problem was never the volume of leads. It was their nature. Clients who study Nürburgring onboard footage over breakfast, who compare torque curves the way others compare watch movements, were never looking for a pitch — they were looking for an interlocutor worthy of them. Generating genuinely qualified buyers required the courage to invert acquisition entirely: you do not sell a summit-range AMG. You grant the privilege of access to one.

03

Shift

Under the positioning “Performance is not what you drive. It’s who you are,” we redesigned acquisition and retail from the ground up. Generic lead forms gave way to Exclusivity Touchpoints — private AMG Track Mornings, reachable only through co-option by clubs, wealth managers and business circles, where no sale is ever mentioned. Showrooms became Affalterbach Embassies, exposing engineering decisions rather than spec sheets. Advisors became Performance Curators, trained to recognise passion and nurture it rather than close it. The AMG Circle replaced discount-based loyalty with something rarer: priority access to unreleased engines, private events, and direct co-creation with the technical teams themselves.

04

Impact

By choosing to close certain doors in order to open the right ones, AMG converted a qualification problem into a structural advantage. Lead volume on the summit segment fell; revenue climbed regardless. Dealers stopped filtering the merely curious and started orchestrating encounters with clients whose decision, in most cases, had already been made before they ever stepped inside the Embassy.
