Rewrite the Rules
Too much desire, chasing too little exclusivity.
Mercedes-AMG brought us a problem most brands would envy on paper and fear in practice: overwhelming demand, arriving in all the wrong places. The badge had multiplied across compact models and SUV trim lines, and with it, volume — while the true summit cars, the GT, the SL 63, the G 63, quietly lost the gravitational pull that once made owning one feel like an initiation rather than a purchase. The brief looked commercial. The real issue was philosophical: how do you make a brand more selective when your own success keeps making it more available?
